What Is the Openness Factor?

The openness factor on a cockpit window shade refers to how tightly the fabric is woven. The tighter the weave, the more sunlight it blocks. Conversely, a looser weave will allow more sunlight to come in through the cockpit window. The openness factor is expressed using a percentage, with lower numbers representing a higher level of opacity and protection.  A window shade with a 1% openness factor will provide more shade and protection than one with a 5% openness factor.

Different openness factors offer different benefits. One level is not inherently better than another; it all comes down to what you want from your cockpit window shades.

¿Is it possible to fold the shades?

Fabric is resistant to bend, fold or even twist, once it is heated by sun, it will recover its normal shape.
Is not recommendable to do so, due to the possibility of damage to the suction cups.   If needed, is advisable to remove the suction cups.

Return & Exchange Policy

At Shades2Fly, we encourage our customers to make informed purchases. Please ensure that the selected product meets your needs before completing your order.

Our sunshades are designed to reduce solar radiation and provide reliable UV protection, but they are not intended to fully blackout the cockpit. Depending on the aircraft model and cockpit layout, minor light filtration may occur.

For this reason, we do not offer exchanges or returns, unless the product presents a verifiable manufacturing defect. If you believe your item is defective, please contact us within 7 days of delivery, including photos and a detailed description of the issue.

Additionally, any request for design modifications or custom adaptations must be discussed prior to placing your order, as such changes may involve additional costs or adjustments to delivery times.

Thank you for understanding and for supporting aviation-specific innovation.
